How many are sports fans have continued playing sports into their adults years. When we became adults we encourage our children to participate in sports at school. I remember that being something I forgot to do. Sports are part of our lives!
An Eye Opening Experience!!
As parents, we lived in apartment buildings. When we moved to Texas, I remember the neighborhood kids came to the door asking for my sons to play ball outside. I told the kids that they never played before, but yes they can play. As I was watching my sons first play softball with the neighborhood kids in Texas, I was very surprised. I realize something I did not know before!! When I noticed my son was up to bat. He hit the ball, then ran after the ball. I had to remind the other boys that they never played before so you will have to tell them the rules of the game. It was both funny and sad at the same time to see. That was something they missed playing, living in apartments.
Sports Fans Start Somewhere!!
Remember when we started playing outside just running, jumping, climbing, swimming, and pushing? These were part of our outside activities. Even when we started going to school, we still had sports as a part of what we participated in. I lived in a rural county area in Michigan. It was fun playing on our very first girl’s scorer team at the school in Michigan. I participated on the girls volleyball team also. Several years later, my younger sister was able to patriciate in the school’s girls softball league. She travel all around with the team to the different events. She even won several competitions and won championships for the school. This was something that was not around when I went to school there.
We also watch college and professional sports during seasonal events. My parents would always follow the Michigan Wolverines. They had season tickets every year. I remember when I lived in Dallas, TX, they stopped by while I was in the hospital with my son, who had Leukemia at the time. They were on their way the bowl game in Hawaii that Michigan was playing in. It was good to see them.
