Are Seed Oils Healthy?

Thank you for taking a look at our “Are Seed Oils Healthy” page. It was surprising to me that seed oils will stay in our bodies for two years. I had no idea that they were unhealthy. But I did know that processed foods were not healthy, and I have been trying to avoid them now. I have high blood pressure, and I want to get off the medication. My doctor told me I would be on the medications for the rest of my life. Of course, I do not believe her and will do what I can to stop taking them.

When I start to look at the labels, I begin to see how many ingredients are added to several products that I have been eating that are not healthy. I remember I first started looking for Jif Peanut Butter. Which I enjoyed eating crunching and smooth Jif Peanut Butter. Now, I only buy peanut butter with only peanuts as the ingredient and avoid items with Omega-6.

Omega-6

In researching Omega-6 fatty acids, I found that the molecular structure of seed oils can change because of how they are removed and the high heat they are put through during processing and cooking. Because of this, there are too many Omega-6 fatty acids, also known as linoleic acid.

Before the industrial revolution increased the amounts of Omega-6 in the food chain, Omega-6 was not a problem. Omega-6 fatty acids are naturally found in a healthy amount of our food. Most people were healthier and less likely to eat a lot of sugar back then, and it wasn’t easy to get processed and fast foods like it is now. Because of this, long-term illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure were less common.

In addition, heating these oils causes oxidation, which makes free radicals and too many Omega-6 fatty acids. These unstable chemicals can hurt the membranes of our cells, which can lead to inflammation all over the body and leaky gut syndrome.

Over time, the increase of free radicals can lead to chronic inflammation and other health problems.

I follow “Cooking With Pam.” I thought I would share her video with you. Someone in our online community shared with me that if I got rid of all carbs from my diet, within two weeks my High Blood Pressure would be gone and I would have no more need for pills. Also, I was told if I did, I could use as much salt as I wish. I will try that!! Olive oils from supermarkets are as bad as seed oils. If you like it, search for single origin, organic olive oil.
